UQ’s Pets for Life adoption program gives unwanted pets a second chance in life while helping clinical studies students learn about handling skills, animal behaviour and preparing for procedures.

The Clinical Studies Centre is helping to contribute to solving the unwanted and abandoned pet issue through education. Each time a dog or cat is adopted we save another life.

Adopting a pet is very rewarding, as one of our new families recently said after adopting cat Mishka:

“The program is about changing lives, not only of those animals whose destiny has been to save others, but about improving the quality of your own household, bringing into your home the kind of emotional and physical happiness that only a beloved pet can offer."

Our adoption program will match the needs of the pet with the right family.

Adoption fees

  • $350 for dogs
  • $250 for cats.

All fees go back into caring for our Pets for Life animals.

All dogs and cats are:

  • health checked
  • de-sexed
  • vaccinated
  • microchipped
  • wormed
  • flea treated.

All our Pets for Life adoption animals are supported and fed by Purina PRO PLAN.

Please note: The University of Queensland Pets for Life adoption program is no longer accepting racing and retired greyhounds.
