Clinical Studies Centre

Pets for Life Adoption Program

UQ’s Pets-for-Life adoption program gives unwanted pets a second chance in life while at the same time helping Clinical Studies students learn about handling skills, animal behaviour and preparing for procedures.

Adopting a Pet-for-Life is very rewarding as one of our new families recently said after adopting ‘Mishka’ the cat,

“The program is about changing lives, not only of those animals whose destiny has been to save others, but about improving the quality of your own household, bringing into your home the kind of emotional and physical happiness that only a beloved pet can offer”

Our Pets-for-Life adoption program will match the needs of the pet with the right family. So if you are interested in meeting one of our pets please call 5460 1868, leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

We are based at UQ’s Gatton campus and open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Adoption Fees: $350.00 for dogs and $250.00 for cats. All fees go back into caring for our Pets-For-Life animals.

All dogs and cats are;

  • health checked,
  • de-sexed,
  • vaccinated,
  • microchipped,
  • wormed
  • flea treated

All our Pets-for-Life adoption animals are kindly supported and fed by Advance Pet Food.

The Clinical Studies Centre is helping to contribute to solving the unwanted and abandoned pet issue through education and each time a dog or cat is adopted we save another life.

Crackle

Crackle who came in with her sister Pop and Snap, is a fun loving young lady. Sadly she is the last of the Rice Bubble girls to find a home.  Can your home provide the missing link, for this adorable young lady, everyone needs a little 'Christmas Crackle'

Duece

Duece is one of our quiet achievers, he wrote the book on good manners.  A stately young gentleman, dressed to impress!  Piercing eyes that no one can resist.  It's Christmas time, can you consider putting some'Deuce' under your tree?

Flame

Unlike her name, Flame is not fiery at all! Look at those eyes, could anyone resist a cuddle with this effectionate young lady. Flame currently lives with several other cats but looking for a home for Christmas.  Can you help?

Jazz

Like the Honda, our Jazz is a little pocket rocket. She LOVES other cats and needs to go to a home with another cat. Jazz can be a little shy at first but once she is comfortable in her environment, there is no stopping her. She is a young girl who is eager to please.

Mr Bojangles

Mr Bojangles. 13 m.o. domestic shorthair, male. The shy brother of Mr Bombastic - fortunately will do almost anything for food! Lives amicably with four other cats, and would love to stay with a known companion (like his brother), but ok to separate.

Mr Bombastic

Mr Bombastic. 13 m.o. domestic shorthair, male. Brother to Mr Bojangles (in background). They get along great together, as well as with several other cats, but ok to be separated.

Mr Figaro

Mr Figaro. 13 m.o. domestic shorthair, male. Yes he's cross-eyed. No he's not blind and no, it doesn't hurt. Smoochiest cat in the building, by far.

Queenie

She's an absolute Queen, expecting to be treated royally, to have the best spot on your couch and to rule from her throne, with no hesitation in letting other dogs know she's in charge. Elegantly Grey both by breed and facial colouring, she deceives with her appearance as is reserved initially but once settled in, will show her true self and you will be amazed at her speed and youthful, sparkly, cheeky personality.

Quincy

KelpieX Quincy really enjoys people and spends time in the office curled up under the desk, showing she can switch off and relax. She is sweet, affectionate and the tiniest bit needy, putting her paws up gently onto your lap for a cuddle. At the same time, Quincy's our "go to" girl for dogs needing buddies as she makes friends easily. She has much potential to be an agility competitor as can both jump and climb, but has settled well and not thought about fences since she got some friends to play with in the yard. Quincy needs a home with an active canine companion buddy and a secure enclosure.
