Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome

4 May 2016
6:30pm
UQ Gatton Campus

Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome “EGUS” is a well-recognised syndrome of the horse.  Recently, increased emphasis has been placed on understanding the distinction between disease of the squamous mucosa and disease of the glandular mucosa.  Importantly, it has become increasingly recognised that the typical “at risk population” for glandular disease differs from that for squamous disease and that, consequently, a wider range of horses may be afflicted than just racehorses and high performance sport horses.

This talk will be presented by Ben Sykes and will review recent evidence on prevalence, clinical signs and diagnosis.  Particular emphasis will be on treatment with a review of the current therapeutic options presented.
