A higher degree by research involves in-depth study and commitment to understand existing information or to develop and analyse new data or ideas. The processes and research you conduct will result in new knowledge you can conribute to this field of thought.

Current students

Obtaining Head of School Signature on UQ Travel Declaration Forms

UQ supports authorised travel for HDR students to enrich their student experience and enhance their employability. Authorised travel is where a currently enrolled UQ student undertakes an authorised activity more than 50km away from their usual residence or study location and involves an overnight stay. The activity must be related to their enrolment as a student, although it may be non-credit bearing. Authorised travel only applies to the approved activity dates and locations.

As part of the authorised Student Travel Procedure a HDR declaration form must be sign by 3 parties
-  the student, to declare the information provided is correct
-  the supervisor to endorse the request to travel
-  the Head of School to endorse the travel and confirm the appropriate use of UQ Funds utilised for the requested travel

To provide a more streamlined process to obtain HoS signature, we have created an SVS Travel Request supporting document  to capture

-     If UQ funds are being utilised for the trip
-     If an ACA is being utilised and if so, does the supervisor acknowledge the use of the funds
-     Have the SVS Finance Team confirmed the ACA have the required funds

All  HDR Travel Declaration Forms now sent to HoS must be accompanied by an SVS Travel Request form and emailed to  hosvetsci@uq.edu.au  with the supervisor and svs.finance.advisory@uq.edu.au cc'd.
