I am a veterinary pathologist, graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Teramo (Italy) in 2002 and a PhD in Ultrastructural Pathology in 2006. After completing a residency program at the School of Veterinary Medicine of Milan, I became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) in 2009. Before joining UQ in 2012, I was a full-time researcher in Veterinary Pathology at the University of Teramo (Italy). Roles at the School of Veterinary Science: postgraduate coordinator, member of the Research Committee of the SVS, member HDR Committee of the SVS, co-ordinator of undergraduate (VETS2007) and postgraduate (VET7711, VETS7618, VETS7704, VETS7611, VETS7619) courses.
Research interests: canine oncology and comparative oncology (prostate cancer, osteosarcoma, testicular cancer), reproductive pathology, ultrastructural characterisation of neoplastic diseases in domestic animals, male reproductive pathology induced by Chlamydia infection in koalas, avian pathology.
External Service to Profession/Discipline: (1) Chair of the canine prostate cancer subgroup at OPWG; (2) Scientific Editor of Research in Veterinary Science; (3) Australian representative of the International Veterinary Pathology Coalition; (4) EACR Ambassador; (5) President of the Australian Society of Veterinary Pathologists (2014-2016)
