In December, Head of School, Prof. Nigel Perkins visited Nong Lam University to attend the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture and Environment. The conference was co-hosted by NLU, Okyama University (Japan) and The University of Queensland.

Nigel delivered a keynote presentation on Sustainable Agriculture and One Health. The conference was attended by more than 200 people from countries around the world and included several presentations from UQ – including presentations from Dr Phil Chamberlain and Dr Nancy Phillips.

Nigel also attended a UQ hosted alumni event in Ho Chi Minh City around the event – a very enjoyable night mingling with about 30 Vietnamese UQ alumni who continue to hold UQ in very high regard.

In addition, Nigel met with leaders from the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine to receive updates on the long running collaborations between SVS and NLU FASVM. Phil Chamberlain and Nancy Phillips had just completed two weeks of teaching into the FASVM program. It was a great opportunity to catch up on the linkages between the two institutions and talk about opportunities for strengthening the partnership. 2020 will represent 10 years of partnership and we hope to organise a celebratory event and agree on opportunities to further develop the partnership.
