Healthy People

The School has an increasing profile in advancing translational research.

We use animal models in dogs, pigs, sheep, goats and horses for studying disease processes with human health application, often in partnership with allied health expertise across UQ and elsewhere.

Large animal models closely mimic human physiology, offering insights that are more directly applicable to human medicine than smaller, less complex models.

This work extends to the use of animal and in-vitro models for drug development, trauma and haemorrhage research and developing and testing a variety of surgical devices, implants and equipment.
