About

Excellence in teaching and research

Since its first intake of students in 1936, UQ’s School of Veterinary Science has been recognised for a sustained record of excellence in teaching and learning across the veterinary disciplines and the quality of its research.

We are ranked 34 in the 2024 QS World University Ranking in Veterinary Science and have international accreditation.

The School is based at a purpose-built site with first-rate facilities for teaching and research and access to horses, cattle, pigs and poultry.

Our veterinary hospitals include a Small Animal Hospital and an Equine Specialist Hospital on the Gatton campus.  We also have a Production Animal Service providing ambulatory veterinary care from the Gatton campus with the capacity to provide in-patient care in discussion with the team. We have dedicated, high quality teaching and clinical staff, including those who have been recognised through nationally accredited awards.
